About The Team

Pattiesmuir was established in August 2022 in response to the significant and growing need for tailored, flexible and accessible training and reskilling opportunities for professionals who want to pursue careers in green jobs.

Our name comes from a patch of wild land in our home county of Fife, where Ali walks her dog, and which was once home to a radical college. Fife itself is a great example of why we established the company – the former kingdom and home to Scotland’s former capital of Dunfermline, but which has suffered from the decline of traditional industries, yet which has so much to offer.

We firmly believe that unlocking the potential of professionals at all stages of their careers will be critical to achieving our net zero, circular economy, community empowerment, and other goals; as well as for tackling social and economic deprivation, particularly in rural and remote areas where many of our greatest assets exist. We also believe that much of this potential lies with small businesses, based in those areas where the need for job creation is greatest – whether that’s growing existing businesses or establishing new ones.
