About Keith

I’m a Research Fellow in fuel poverty and energy policy with a background in environmental and building science and 16 years’ experience of research, engagement and teaching; including work on accreditating, promoting and supporting manufacturers and users of natural, sustainable, and energy efficient products and materials. This experience has enabled me to develop an in-depth knowledge of the needs of professionals working in or seeking to transfer to green jobs, as well as the needs of the industry and its stakeholders. As part of my activities at Glasgow Caledonian University I lead an online module on sustainability that is consistently ranked as one of the best across the university, and have published three books covering carbon management, renewable and low carbon energy, and energy policy.

I also enjoy have over 20 years of experience of working with the media, including appearances on the BBC and STV, interviews and articles in national newspapers, and a semi-regular guest expert slot on talkTV. Until 2017 I co-led the Initiative for Carbon Accounting (ICARB), which delivered over thirty free workshops, four national conferences, and three international conferences. I’m currently also a Co-founder of the Energy Poverty Research initiative, for whose work I was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts; a member of the Board of Directors and Convenor of the Energy Working Group at Common Weal; and a Director of Scientists for Global Responsibility.
